Collage Time

Since we've done so much lately, I thought I would condense all of the activities into collages.   Here it goes...

In July we did a lot of things.

County Fair
We had a late start in the day, but it worked out because the boys might not have lasted much longer.  I was excited that there was a cute section for kids to do some FREE things.  Makes sense to me, county fairs are pretty pricey, so we steer clear of the rides, and try not to eat too much (we went to a nice BBQ place for lunch before we went to the fair, and they had free soft serve ice cream!).  Of the free activities, we saw an awesome model train exhibit, the 4-H animals, some country activities (the boys even got to do the kids' tractor pull).

Train Museum
Namma and Boppa took us to the Train Museum in Sacramento.  Lots of fun for the boys.  Some of the exhibits let you walk through some old passenger trains.  Lots of interesting artifacts as well, and one man's very extensive collection of model trains.  WOW!  At the end, the boys were able to play with some Thomas sets they had set up.

Silas' Birthday
Silas' birthday fell close to the opening of the last Harry Potter movie, which was pretty fitting because Silas wanted a Harry Potter birthday party.  It has become our tradition to give our boys a train party when they turn 3, so we had to make it a Harry Potter Train party...hmmm.  So we road the Hogwart's express, decorated wands, ate Bertie Bott's every Flavor Beans (taste testing game), and had lots of fun.  The highlights for Silas were the Quidditch cake (I am going the simple route now, yummy cake with toys on top), and the special wand made by Boppa.

Fruit Picking
We asked some friends if they would let us know what places near their home had good fruit-picking.  Pretty sneaky way to get friends to invite you to their house, but it worked.  We love our friends and we had lots of fun picking apricots and peaches.  I have never seen apricots so big before, and all of the fruit was so sweet.  I wish we could go there more often.

Dress-up
Who says dressing up is just for girls?  My boys like to dress up on a daily basis, always keeping things exciting.

You came up here? And didn't email? ;) We LOVE the train museum! We even have year passes. We go at least once a month because the boys love it so much. Next time you make an excursion up this way let me know. We'd love to say hi!
