The wise man built his house upon the rock,
The wise man built his house upon the rock,
The wise man built his house upon the rock,
And the rains came tumbling down.
The rains came down, and the floods came up,
The rains came down, and the floods came up,
The rains came down, and the floods came up,
And the house on the rock stood still.
The foolish man built his house upon the sand,
The foolish man built his house upon the sand,
The foolish man built his house upon the sand,
And the rains came tumbling down.
The rains came down, and the floods came up,
The rains came down, and the floods came up,
The rains came down, and the floods came up,
And the house on the sand washed away.
Life is hard, and I am really grateful for friends and family who are understanding and uplifting. However, even when life is hard, if you build upon the solid foundation, you will not be washed away when the rain falls. Also important to remember, is that just because you have a solid foundation does not excuse you from the rain. Learn to dance in the rain. (unless of course it is a hurricane. Don't do it).
Last weekend I was able to attend Time Out For Women in Reno with some friends. It has become our annual tradition, and I know it sounds cheesy, but I really feel like I can't live without this. Especially right now, I was in need some some girl time with my friends (I really wish we could do fun things like this more often). I have been blessed with the most wonderful friends ever. They uplift me, teach me, and help me to become someone better. They're not just chit chat friends; their friendship has truly strengthened me.
The talks were amazing. Diversity, friendship, overcoming adversity (and allowing it to refine us), the example of mothers in our lives, the power of faith, the justice of God (even when life seems unfair), and developing good habits and traditions were the topics that the speakers addressed. We all need a boost sometimes. Sometimes that boost needs to be a bit bigger, and I am grateful for this boost in my life.

I'm going to have to go to that one of these years. I've never been in a position to do so. This year it was the same weekend at my brother's wedding so I missed it again! Someday, I'm going to get there!
