In our Church we believe that little children are perfect and have no need of baptism until they reach the age of accountability (age 8), when they can be held responsible for their own choices. As such, infants are not baptized. Infants can, however, receive a blessing from their fathers (or another worthy male who holds the priesthood) while they are still young. This blessing is given by inspiration, and performed in front of the church congregation while the father holds the infant in his arms.
Daphne received her blessing when she was almost 4 months old. When I was an infant, I was christened/baptized into another church before joining The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints when I was 15. The dress Daphne wore for her blessing is the same dress I wore as an infant, made by my mother.
This was a very special day for us, and we are so blessed to have this wonderful child in our lives. She is such a happy baby and full of love, and the blessing JD gave to her mentioned that. She's been our only child so far who didn't scream through the blessing. Not only was she calm, apparently she smiled at each of the men in the blessing circle while they were holding her.
